Defending champion Rafael Nadal looked to grasp another Grand slam in his pocket, after defeating the talented Jannik Sinner and entered into the men’s singles semifinal of the French Open 2020.
Rafael Nadal easily defeated the Sinner by 7-6(4), 6-4 as he continued his pursuit for a record-extending breakthrough 13th title in the French Open and stand himself to equal the record of Roger Federer.
In this match at first set Sinner showed his class with a lot of power and a good selection of shots. But for the two sets, it was tough, especially at the end of the first.set.
At the end of the match, Rafael Nadal said, “ For me, that’s not easy to pull him out of his position. I think in the third set I played better than Sinner and I finished the match much more aggressively. That was the only way.”
The feature he said, “I’m so excited to be in the semi-finals again here at Roland Garros/French Open” Nadal said. “No doubt that this is the most important place for me(in the tournament) and the most beautiful place to play.”
“The Jannik Sinner is a very young talent with a lot of power, great shots selections. For two sets it was so tough, especially when I came back in the first set. I was lucky to be back from 5-6, having to break him back. The conditions here were a little bit harder because he was playing so well from the beginning,”
Rafael Nadal said. “I think in the 3rd third set I did much better and I finished playing much more aggressively. That was the only way.”
“It’s difficult for me to speak after the match, but thanks to my fans and everyone for your support.
Ponderosa said. “I try to play every kind of shot. We did a good job with my coaches during the quarantine time of (COVID – 19). I’ve been training well with my team and I think that’s why I’m here today.”
While, on the other side, Diego Schwartzman won by 7-6(1), 5-7, 6-7(6), 7-6(5), 6-2 to send the 2018 and 2019 finalist Dominic Thiem packing in the 2nd quarter-final and also have the chances to be in the top-10 men’s singles ranking for the first time ever next Monday.
And also Rafael Nadal will face Schwartzman in the semifinal and this will be a very interesting battle to reach in the final and be the champion of the French Open 2020.
